90'S STYLE & SUMMER WAVES

Whilst lots of people love to channel whose styles are vastly different from that in which they grew up, I on the other hand, am a massive fan of all the fashion throughout my birth era; the Eclectic 90's!

Things that are totally amazing at the moment...

Those tattoo choker necklaces!
Towards the beginning of the 21st century these babies started to coin terms such as trashy or slutty...   however I've always seemed to love them and have a massive collection of all different styles and colours.

Egyptian-Inspired Jewellery!
Okay, so perhaps a lot of the fascination for egyptian jewellery came in during the 80's, but the early 90's drew a lot from that as mystics and the occult became really popular. Symbols like the Ankh were always a hit and I have a feeling they're gradually making an even stronger come-back!

Bright Mini Skirts!
When the whole "colour-blocking" concept came into fashion, I can't say I was the biggest fan. However I do love pairing one super "simple" piece of clothing with the really crazy and hectic patterns of another. So usually I'll rock a bright block-colour/ metallic skirt and then add some crazy patterned or see-through shirt  to add some texture and intricacy to my outfits.

Showing off your Bra!
Yes, the 90's was the age of the see-through shirt and crop top combo. Whilst this often isn't pulled off too well by girls with bigger boobs, I kinda feel lucky in that mine are only "JUST" a size B-cup.
Yeah, when I say "just" I really mean, they're so small that they barely pass for a B-cup... :'( *tears*

See-through Patterned Shirts, DUH!
Can't show off your bra without one! ;)
Thankfully, nowadays they come in so many really flattering styles, not just the body-tight black scoop neck's of the 90's, making them easily wearable and really great for summer!

Giant  FLATFORMS
Flatforms are the greatest thing to ever be invented, in my opinion. - They're comfortable; they look amazing and give me all the height I've been craving! (being the shortest in my family- BOOHOO!)
I usually get varied comments when I wear my flatforms... Either they're loved, or bitterly hated - Although it seems the girls who really appreciate the magic of the flatforms are those who understand the burden of having to walk around in heels all day.

Anyway, lastly I thought I'd show you
how I manage to get my hair so weird and wavy-
 90'S STYLE!!!!

The video below pretty much just shows the effects of the princess wave although you can actually wear the plaits out as they're super cute too! Give it a go let me know how it turned out for you!
I will put a step by step in another post coming soon, although the process is so easy I'm sure you could easily work it out without one ^__^

I hope everyone has a really lovely summer!
(or winter, depending on where you are! Hehe)
Peace

to you all,

BLURRED BATHERS & SUMMER SEMANTICS

Hey Guys!

It's been forever since I was able to post, probably due to all the hectic events that have gone on lately.
Unfortunately I'm still lacking my amazing photographer and sister who has been extra busy working in an orphanage in Cambodia so my ability to take quality pictures has fallen to the wayside. Regardless here is a sneak peak of the bathers I will be rocking this summer (`09 Alice McCall's).

They're absolutely sublime and I totally dig the harsh and rigid bodice coupled with some dainty flower head-pieces. -TO DIE FOR!

Hopefully I will post more regularly now that Summer is approaching,
Much love and thank you for being so supportive!

A Thousand Apologies!!!!!

I know I haven't be posting at all lately, however believe me, there is a good excuse!
It seems every time I have gone out with my sister (who takes all my awesome photos) we seem to be interrupted by phone calls calling us back to hospital.
You see, my uncle (one of the only constant male figures in my life) has been diagnosed as terminally ill, with cancer. It has taken a massive toll on my family and has been really hard to justify taking time away from an important family member, simply for lookbook pictures. I really hope to be able to return to my normal routine with my sister, however, for the time being I hope these will suffice:

Just a few incredibly crappy and highly pixelated laptop photos, in which I inserted a background into using some super tacky "Mac Photo Booth" programme.

Haha, I kinda like the "Me dematerialising" element.... ;)

Wreath - Self-made
Dress - Ladakh
Shirt - Trifted
Ankh - Ebay
Fairy Star Choker - Self-made
Turquoise "MIKU" Wig - Ebay~

Hopefully I will be back to posting more "COMPLETE" outfits soon!
Thanks for being so patient everyone!

Rapping on Heaven's Door

Holy Rap Shirt/Dress- Thrifted
Leopard Collar Dress - Thrifted
Shoes - Club Kid Spike Wedge
Tights - ASOS
Skull Bracelet - Markets

So I did say I'd do something a tad darker this week... and here it is!
I've been in love with this 'shirt-dress' my sister bought from a skate store in Auckland for quite a while now and when the opportunity arose I just couldn't turn down styling it. It's got that awesome religious feel, with the stained glass windows but instead of having religious icons, it features the 'GREAT RAPPERS' of all time! (From left to right: Snoop Dog, Tupac Shakur, Jay-Z, Biggie Smalls and 50cent).
To be very honest, I'm not that into rap but I really admire & love the imagination of whoever came up with this dress!
My other favourite part of this outfit is the Club Kid Platform Shoes! Lots of people have mixed opinions about platforms (especially when they are covered in spikes). . . For the most part, so many of my friends and family thought I was ridiculous when I ordered them. But I am absolutely in LUUURRRRRVEEEE!~ Admittedly they are the hardest shoes I've ever had to walk in as the soles are very slim and narrow. Also, when I first ordered them they were a super tight fit as the leather hadn't stretched. But all in all they are fast becoming my favourite pair of shoes to date! Anyway, that's all for this week!
I'm not sure if I'll find the time to do an age-old 'Valentine's Day' look... but I'll see how much I can squeeze in over the next 3 days.

Note: Sorry for the super long wait on this post!

Of Stars & Moons, Bears & Balloons

White Cami - Somedays Lovin
Pink Shorts - Thrifted
Brown Belt - Thrifted
Crochet Cardigan - Somedays Lovin
White Socks - Thrifted
Rose Wreath - Homemade
Skull Necklace - Ladama Hardware
Shell Pendant - Subiaco Markets
Fox Head Bag - Antique Markets
Shoes - Jeffry Campbell Foxy Wood Wedge (Pink)

I simply love sitting by the river and watching the wold go by~ Which is probably why it's become one of my very favourite places to take photos! Although next time I probably won't be taking them in the middle of the day. It was so HOT that by the time we finished I looked as though I'd taken a dip in the river made entirely of sweat. Ew~ haha!
I am a big fan of wearing lovely light colours in the summer, so gorgeous pastel pinks have been on constant wardrobe rotation as well as lovely loose fitting items - cause seriously, who wan't to wear body-con in summer?
My favourite part about this outfit is the Wreath in my hair. My sister made it for me out of the 50 long stemmed roses my mum received when she turned 50 last year, so it just has a lot of sentimental value.
Anyway, if you would like to see more photos of my outfits you can always go to PINEAPPLE NIPPLES as my lovely photographer uploads them, along with some of her own stuff, like wildfire!

Look forward to next weeks post, I'm planning on something a tad darker than usual!

Drowning in the White Light

Wide-Brimmed Hat - Kookai
Ring - Thrifted
Black Slip - Thrifted
Feather Bag - Thrifted
Maroon Crochet Top - Bardot
Mustard Scallop Skirt - Wild Pair
Shoes - Jeffrey Campbell Rockin Platform
Indian Feather Necklace/ Tassel Necklace worn as Bracelet - Diva

Deary me! It's been quite a while since I reblogged; what with Christmas and New Years events all so close I've had little to no time for much photo-taking. Anyway, i'll keep this short by saying my whole outfit was built around an absolute love that I formed for a Kookai Wide-Brimmed Hat (as above) that my sister bought for herself during the Boxing Day sales. I seem to steal so many of her clothes lately as they're just too gorgeous!

Anyway, I must be honest in saying that I wasn't too happy with how the photos came out mainly because they were all so flooded with light. I guess thats one of the perils of photographing during the middle of the day when the reach of sunlight is at its peak.

I hope you like them regardless!
